Are you 18-24 and unemployed? Future Arts could have the job for you! Sick of being unemployed? Watched one too many episodes of Jeremy Kyle? Told yourself you’d never watch Loose Women again (but you still do)? Well, we at Future Arts may have solved your conundrum. Future Arts in conjunction with Leeds city council's Future Jobs Fund Scheme have created 16 exciting job opportunities for 18-24 year olds living in Leeds, who have been unemployed from between 6-12 months. The new jobs will be funded by the Government initiative, The Future Jobs Fund, which aims to support the creation of jobs for long term unemployed young people. But what is an FJF job at Future Arts, why is it such a great start to your career and how do you apply? What are the jobs? - Junior Web Designer x2 - Junior Multimedia (Video) Producer x2 - Junior Graphic Designer x2 - Community (Music and Media) Outreach Worker x2 - Personal Assistant - Audio Visual Technician - Marketing (Sales) Officer x2 - PR/Communications Officer These jobs are an opportunity for you to join our team and get involved in the creative and technological industries in a vibrant environment, whilst also contributing to exciting projects delivered for the benefit of local communities.
Who are we looking for? We are looking for people with a positive attitude who want to be given the chance to showcase themselves in a dynamic job role. You will be somebody who shares our values and can become a positive role model for young people. Who can apply? You may be eligible to apply for a FJF job at Future Arts if you are: - Aged between 18-24 - Unemployed and claiming Jobseekers Allowance for between 6 and 12 months What skills do I need before I start the job? You may already have some of the skills and qualifications required, but this is not the only criteria; a passionate and active interest is just as important to us. For example: - PR/Communications Officer: you may enjoy writing articles or reviewing events. - AV Technician: you may have helped bands set up on the stage or in the studio, or even have a passion for fixing computers
Will I get paid? Yes. All our employees will receive a fair wage that is above the national minimum wage and on top of this get loads of extra training absolutely free. What training will I get? You will have a dedicated Staff Developer who will organise all the training. It will be specific to your job role and designed to help you develop the necessary and important skills required. Alongside this we also invite you to identify your own training needs, thus ensuring that you will be getting the maximum benefits and enjoyment of what we have to offer. Will I be doing a set project or will I just be fitting into a team?? Whatever the role you won't be expected to come straight into the company and have all the answers. You’ll be given various projects within your job role, both as part of a team and independently. It's a junior position and you will be given loads of help and support to grow in your job. What other support will I get?? In the job your friendly Staff Developer will be on the other side of the phone and willing to chat about the FJF scheme at any time. How do I apply?? You must go to your Job Centre Plus for these jobs at Future Arts (which will be advertised between 28th January-19th February 2010). If your Job Centre Advisor confirms you are eligible then they will ask you to fill in a straightforward application form. What happens next?
What are my hours of work? These jobs are classed as full time positions - you will work 25 hours a week for 26 weeks (6 months). Future Arts is based in the city centre - 2 mins away from the bus station.
